William W. Lang is Senior Vice President and Chief Examinations Officer in the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s Supervision, Regulation and Credit department. Dr. Lang came to the Philadelphia Fed in 2002 to build an advanced quantitative group to advance the Federal Reserve System’s efforts to implement Basel II for retail credit and to aid in supervising advanced quantitative approaches for managing consumer credit risk.
Prior to joining the Federal Reserve, Dr. Lang served as Director for Special Studies at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and was on the faculty of the Rutgers University Department of Economics. He has published numerous articles in leading academic and business journals including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of Financial Intermediation, the Risk Management Association and the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking. Dr. Lang received his Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.
