Panelist for International Opportunities: Jessica Lin
Energy Specialist, World Bank
Jessica managed a wireless mesh technology enterprise start-up that offered access to information to rural farmers in the developing world. In addition, she has nearly a decade of experience from both the private and non-profit sectors from groups ranging from the Fixed Income department of Lehman Brothers to the development office of an NGO in Brazil. She has significant experience in strategic planning and business development as well as financial analysis and market research. She has worked in a range of industries including information technology, financial services, energy and manufacturing, but is most passionate about the ability of clean technologies to create economic and educational opportunities for the impoverished. She worked in the energy anchor of the World Bank and is currently and Energy Specialist in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
Jessica was a Catherine B. Reynold’s Fellow for Social Entrepreneurship from the Harvard Kennedy School where she earned her Master’s in Public Policy. At the Kennedy School, she completed field research at Harvard Business School on the ability of the biodiesel industry to create agribusiness jobs for the impoverished in Mexico, India and Kenya and a thesis on increasing access to finance for micro and small and medium enterprises through non-bank financial institutions with the IFC. She is also the founder of the Black Empowerment Project, a student-led developmental consulting group, as well as a boutique private equity consulting practice. Jessica completed her undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT.
