Mr. McLaughlin is the Founder and Managing Partner of FT Partners, a San Francisco-based boutique investment banking firm focused exclusively on the dynamic financial technology sector. Steve’s firm was awarded “Investment Bank of the Year” in 2004 and 2006 and the firm has also received numerous awards for its outstanding transaction results. Steve was recognized as Dealmaker of the Year in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and he was also recognized as one of the most influential executives in Online Finance by Institutional Investor in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Mr. McLaughlin formerly was a senior investment banker in Goldman, Sachs & Co.’s Financial Technology Group and was the senior investment banker in the Financial Institutions Group in San Francisco before leaving the firm in 2002 to form FT Partners. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. McLaughlin was with GE and GE Capital as a member of its Financial Management Program and Corporate Audit Staff. Mr. McLaughlin received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
