Bryan Shapiro is currently a Managing Director in the Distressed Debt / Special Situations Group at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. The Distressed Debt / Special Situations Group manages a proprietary investment fund for Bear, Stearns and also serves as a broker/dealer of distressed debt. Among his responsibilities, Mr. Shapiro analyzes and manages long, short, and inter-capital investments in the debt and equity of distressed companies. Mr. Shapiro has made distressed investments in numerous industries, including telecommunications, automotive, retail, packaging, steel, chemical, and homebuilding. In addition, Mr. Shapiro has served on official and unofficial creditor committees, which were formed to protect the interest of creditors and to maximize the value of those creditors' claims.
Prior to joining Bear, Stearns, Mr. Shapiro served as an investment banker at Kidder, Peabody; Smith Barney; and Lazard Frères & Co.
Mr. Shapiro received an MBA from the Wharton School in 1998 and a BA from Cornell University.
