Simon Canning started his banking career in 1978 and joined Swiss Bank Corporation in London in 1986. He moved to New York in 1987 and took charge of Swiss Bank Corporation's U.S. Corporate Finance Department, and went on to head its US securities unit in 1990.

From 1996 to July 1998, Mr. Canning was President and CEO of SBC Warburg Dillon Read Inc. (as well as its predecessors). He was a member of the SBC Warburg Dillon Read Executive Board. He has also had extensive dealings with the Federal Reserve Bank, State regulators, the NYSE and NASDAQ.

Upon completion of the integration of SBC with UBS in June 1998, Mr. Canning took up new responsibilities and returned to corporate finance to cover private equity firms worldwide for UBS. Among his clients are Advent International, Behrman Capital, Blackstone, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Fenway Partners, Ripplewood Holdings and TA Associates.

Mr. Canning's professional qualifications include Barrister, Middle Temple, London, 1976; University of Oxford/Oriel College, Oxford, UK - MA Jurisprudence, Business Law 1975. Mr. Canning is British, 49 years old and married with two children.
