Jeff Kronthal,
Managing Director,
Head of Global Principal Investments & Secured Finance, Merrill Lynch


Jeffrey W. Kronthal is a Managing Director of Merrill Lynch and head of the Global Principal Investments and Secured Financing Group. This group consists of all Debt's global financing and trading activities in commercial and non-agency residential real estate, all consumer and equipment receivables. He also manages a principal activities group with units focused on distressed/opportunistic corporate bonds and loans, commercial real estate and consumer assets. Mr. Kronthal's responsibilities also include managing ML Capital which is a middle-market lender with units in Equipment/Lease financing, Health Care, Corporate Finance and Real Estate. In addition, he oversees the Investment and ALCO activities of ML's U.S. based banks.

Prior to running the GPISF group, Jeff has headed several businesses at Merrill Lynch including the capital markets businesses in the US Banking Group, Global Debt and Credit Derivatives, US Liquidity Products, Mortgage Capital and Global Debt eCommerce. He joined Merrill Lynch in August 1989.

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in 1989, Mr. Kronthal was head of Fixed Income Sales and Trading and executive committee member at L.F. Rothschild, Inc. Previously he had been employed at Salomon Brothers for 10 years, joining its mortgage area in 1978, and ultimately serving as a Managing Director on the mortgage trading desk.

Mr. Kronthal received his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and his Master's of Business Administration Degree from the Wharton School of Business in 1978.
