Leroy T. Barnes, Jr., is Vice President and Treasurer of PG&E Corporation.
Mr. Barnes, 50, oversees all financing, financial planning, risk management, cash
management, and pension fund operations.
Prior to assuming his current position in 2001, Mr. Barnes was Vice President and Treasurer of Gap, Inc., the international clothing retailer, where he was responsible for all of the company's financing, cash management, international finance, investor relations, and risk management. While at Gap, Mr. Barnes led the company's first major public debt issue and managed its $1 billion common stock repurchase program.
Before joining Gap, Mr. Barnes held a number of executive financial management positions at Pacific Telesis Group/SBC Communications, including Assistant Treasurer, Division General Manager, and Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of PacTel Corporation. There, he was a principal in engineering the company's spin-off of AirTouch, Inc., as well as the sale of Pacific Telesis to SBC Communications. Mr. Barnes' experience also includes positions at the University of California Press, where he was Chief Financial Officer, and Deloitte & Touche, where he was a management consultant. He also served as Assistant Director of Admissions at Stanford University.
Mr. Barnes is a graduate of Stanford University, where he earned an MBA in
finance, a master's degree in administration and a bachelor's degree in psychology.
Mr. Barnes serves on the Boards of Directors of the McClatchy Newspaper
Company and Longs Drug Stores Corporation, and is a Board member and past chairman of the California Endowment, a multi-billion dollar charitable foundation.
