Tor Jansson is an Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group, where he is responsible for identifying and preparing microfinance investments in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is also leading a review of IFC's microfinance strategy that will guide the Corporation's activities in this field over the next several years.
Before joining IFC in 2003, Tor held the position of Microfinance Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which he entered in 1996. At the IDB, his main tasks included the preparation of technical assistance projects, policy advice to bank regulators and the dissemination of trends and issues in the microfinance industry.
Tor has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a Masters in International Economics from the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at the University of California, San Diego. Tor is the author of several articles and papers on the topic of microfinance.
