Alex Edmans

Alex Edmans is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Wharton. After graduating from Oxford University, Alex worked as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley in London, initially covering chemicals clients and latterly financial institutions. He then earned a PhD in Financial Economics at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.
At Wharton, Professor Edmans’ research interests are in corporate finance and behavioral finance. His paper on the effect of international soccer results on investor sentiment and stock returns was published in the Journal of Finance, profiled in the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times, and led to live interviews on ESPN, CNBC and the BBC. Current projects include the choice of investment bank advisors by M&A acquirers; the efficiency of executive compensation; and institutional investors’ role in corporate governance through “voting with their feet”.
