Adriaan joined UBS in October 2002 from Merrill Lynch, where he was head of the New Products Team for the Americas, responsible for the origination, structuring and execution of innovative capital markets and private transactions. He started his career in investment banking at Citicorp where he was part of the Capital Structuring Team in New York, London and Amsterdam. Throughout his career, Adriaan has been instrumental in the creation and execution of many innovative financial instruments and solutions for financial institutions including capital securities (he was part of the team that invented trust preferreds), contingent capital and liquidity transactions, risk transfer solutions, structured securitizations and structured investment transactions.

Adriaan graduated from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands with a Master's in Economics and Taxation.
